BROOM TREE HOUSING

Refuge, Solace & New Beginnings

Attainable Housing is a need that has been evident in Central Alberta since we started the Broom Tree Foundation.

Weekly we have women and their families who are either experiencing or on the verge of homelessness and are desperately seeking accommodations. The need is tremendous.

Here at the Broom Tree we make every effort to find these women affordable long term housing by connecting them with appropriate agencies, partner with churches, landlords and hotels or filling out housing applications. We have had to be very creative and dynamic in addressing these needs.

Attainable housing refers to a supportive – yet temporary – type of accommodation that is meant to bridge the gap from homelessness to permanent housing by offering structure, supervision, support for women who have found themselves in a major life change, crisis or catastrophic event.

Those life events may include the loss of a partner, a medical condition, losing a job, a mental health challenge, divorce, domestic or sexual abuse, and more.

Our Vision

The Broom Tree envisions a world where every woman and her family has access to a safe, stable, and nurturing home, a true refuge where healing begins, hope is restored, and lives are rebuilt.

Through community-driven support and comprehensive wrap-around services, we are working toward creating a 12-unit co-living housing community for women and their children. This space will offer thoughtfully designed shared living environments that foster connection, belonging, and a strong sense of community, ensuring no woman has to walk her journey alone.

How you can support our vision

We are looking for individuals, businesses and churches who have the same desire to ensure no one in our community will have to experience homelessness and wants to protect our vulnerable neighbors.

To join our efforts in making this vision a reality, please contact us!

The goal of supportive housing is to support women and their children facing difficult life events which may include the loss of a partner, a medical condition, losing a job, a mental health challenge, divorce, domestic or sexual abuse and more.

Housing will be available for anywhere from a few days up to 1 year, depending on the needs of each individual and their situation. The Broom Tree Housing Project offers wrap-around support that all guests will be expected to participate in to facilitate growth and healing as they work toward their ultimate goal of securing long term housing.

Attainable Housing is short term housing that includes the provision of support services, on or off site, to help people move towards independence, self-sufficiency and ultimately securing long term affordable housing.

The Broom Tree Foundation will offer wrap-around services to ensure a woman is fully supported in her goals toward long term housing.

Due to lack of immediate and affordable housing in our communities the Broom Tree has seen a significant increase in clients coming for support in this area. In the interim we have established and maintained important community relationships. The Lacombe Foundation, hotels, summer camps and Landlords in and around Central Alberta have teamed up with us to help the women we serve who are experiencing or on the verge of homelessness find temporary housing. Broom Tree operates three apartment units that serve our housing program goals.
