Transitional/Temporary Housing is a need that has been evident in Central Alberta since we started the Broom Tree Foundation.

COMING SOON

Weekly we have women and their families who are either experiencing or on the verge of homelessness and are desperately seeking accommodations. The need is tremendous.

Here at the Broom Tree we make every effort to find these women affordable long term housing by connecting them with appropriate agencies, partner with churches, landlords and hotels or filling out housing applications. We have had to be very creative and dynamic in addressing these needs.

Transitional housing refers to a supportive – yet temporary – type of accommodation that is meant to bridge the gap from homelessness to permanent housing by offering structure, supervision, support for women who have found themselves in a major life change, crisis or catastrophic event. It is our intention, The Broom Tree House will help bridge that gap while also offering life skills, and in some cases, education and training.

Those life events may include the loss of a partner, a medical condition, losing a job, a mental health challenge, divorce, domestic or sexual abuse, and more.

Our Vision

To own a family oriented multi-room building equipped with adequate bathrooms, bedding accommodations and shared kitchen accessibly located in Lacombe. Ideally this building will be large enough for office space, classrooms and meeting rooms to enable us to offer wrap-around services while maintaining our ultimate goal of offering transitional/temporary housing to women and their families in need.

How you can support our vision

We are looking for individuals, businesses and churches who have the same desire to ensure no one in our community will have to experience homelessness and wants to protect our vulnerable neighbors.

If you are able to join our efforts in making this vision become a reality and can help us by donating to this project or joining our fundraising and building committee, please contact us.
